Carl and Carl Jr.

Oddly enough all of our family portraits recently have been between Father's and their sons and this past Saturday afternoon was no exception. We met Carl and Carl Jr. up in Hartford at the Connecticut Science Center. It was such an awesome experience to see the science museum through the eyes of a four year old and we really had so much fun running from exhibit to exhibit seeing, touching, and playing with everything! (Yeah, I have to admit there were a few times that we played at the different exhibits too!)
.

So seeing the world through the eyes of a four year old!

At the museum they have a traveling exhibit which while we were there was the Ends of the Earth: From Polar Bears to Penguins exhibit. Which was very cool and Carl Jr. showed us just how cool it was...
The next stop was the invention dimension!

At about 5 O'clock it was time to leave the museum and Carl Jr. was not all about that but his face was so precious that we could not help taking a few shots.

Carl Jr. was such a ham... he has so much energy in front of the camera and it made my job so easy. I mean seriously look at this kid!

Even giggling he is adorable!!!

.
Thank you Carl and Carl Jr. for a great time at the Connecticut Science Center we had a great time looking at and running around the exhibits with you!!!

Greg and Dominick's Day at the Beach

There are definitely times in life when you truly get to witness true love and as photographers Jay and I have been blessed and honored to bare witness to the most genuine forms of love more times than the average person. We have been honored to see the love a man has for his soon to be wife, the love a mother and father have for their newborn, and this past weekend we got to watch the true and unbiased love that a father has for his son. Greg truly is a father that loves his son for everything that he is and everything that he will become and its obvious that Dominick feels the love for his father. Even though as a seven year old Dominick has a short tension span for posing we were able to obtain some great pictures of him and his father just being themselves and having fun. I personally feel that those natural “journalistic” style of images are more meaningful and are the type of images that days, months, and years from now when Dominick and Greg look back they will be able to go back to that moment and remember the moment and the feelings that were present. So without further ado Greg and Dominick’s day at the beach!!!!!

I really liked how this one of Greg and Dominick walking to the beach turned out!!!
.
So seeing these two together makes me think of that will smith song you know the one Just the Two of Us. “Everytime I look at you I think man, a little me, Just like me Wait an see gonna be tall Makes me laugh cause you got your dads ears an all Sometimes I wonder, what you gonna be A General, a Doctor, maybe a MC… Just the two of us, we can make it if we try, Just the two of us, you and I”
.
Seriously, look at the love here!!!!
.
Love how both of these turned out!
.
Ok so we have a shoe fetish, but come on how cute is this!!
.
I have learned that parents look for any excuse to turn any experience into a learning experience and our photo shoot was no exception from Jay teaching Dominick how to use the camera to Greg stopping to take a moment to explain to Dominick about PFC. William A. Sodderman. PFC Sodderman received the Congressional Medal of Honor and this monument was placed in his honor to commemorate his bravery.
.
On the way home a very hungry Dominick, sat perched on his Dad’s shoulders as we headed back to the cars after a great afternoon.
.

Thank you Greg and Dominick for an awesome day at the beach, we had a great time and look forward to playing with our Nerf guns.

St. Patty's Day PUG meeting

St. Patrick's Day is generally associated with four leaf clovers, green beer, and luck. Let me tell you that this St. Patrick's Day Jay and I were blessed with a ton of luck. We were the proud hosts of this month's CT PUG meeting. For those readers who are unsure of what a PUG meeting is it is a group of photographers who get together once a month at different locations. What happens at these meetings well the PUGs mission statement I guess sums it up the best in saying that the PUG is meant “to facilitate communication and education among professional photographers at a regional level around the nation in order to allow photographers to learn from each other and share experiences.” What is truly great about this group is photographers get the opportunity to network and build really good relationships and even friendships with others in their industry. These relationships make it an easy forum to share what has been working for you professionally and what you are struggling with and allows others to help you. But above all things the best part about the PUG is how much fun we have!! These meetings are always filled with laughing so hard that your stomach hurts and smiling and joking around with friends that understand your life as a photographer.
Well this month we were incredibly lucky for several reason first off Justin and Mary the leaders of our group were back in CT to lead our group after their super successful Spread the Love Tour. We were also super lucky because our speakers were the ever amazingly talented Jerome and Jennifer Braga of Studio 1923! They gave a great presentation similar to what they presented at Mystic 5 to a very packed living room/ dining room/ kitchen. (People were packed in everywhere and anywhere).

Check out this picture courtesy of Studio 1923 of our very packed living room!!!
.

.
Jay and I really enjoyed this St. Patrick’s day partying with our photography friends and we really want to extend a huge heartfelt thanks to everyone that came and made this a successful PUG meeting and another huge thank to the Braga’s who were fricking amazing!!!! See you all next month!!!!!!

Fun Times in BPT

So last weekend we decided to practice some of our new lighting techniques that we learned at Aurora’s workshop and somehow our model Jess talked me into also modeling. Still not quite sure how that happened, but either way I was able to have fun both in front of and behind the camera! We lucked out with a totally awesome space to shoot in. We were down at an industrial building in Bridgeport which made for some totally awesome shots. While we were playing around our friends Eric and Lynn stopped down and of course they ended up in front of our cameras as well. Here are just a few teasers from this awesome shoot!!!

Here I am pretending to be a model!

Jess totally heating up these shots and we even were even able to play with our new found lighting skills!

Eric got sucked into having portraits taken!!

Eric and Lynn are such an amazing couples and it truly was a pleasure to photograph them. It was also nice to have a couple that was willing to let us practice and tweak are lighting techniques to be just right and man aren’t they frickin HOT!!

Stay tuned for more from this awesome photo shoot!
